This is an interesting question and for such a small question I wish there was an easy answer, but there is not. We could say we go because God said.
Or we could say the bible talks about missions and missionary trips so that is why we go. Yet if missions are not in your heart you probably wouldn't go.
Here are some of the most asked questions that are asked.

So what does a mission trip look like? Where do you go? Why go on a mission trip? Can't you just go on a vacation and you can talk to people about Jesus if you want to? Isn't that a mission trip, kinda?
Does going on a mission trip mean I will have to eat weird stuff and sleep on the ground with a bunch of strangers?

Tom Hayden has been doing missions for many years now and he has seen and done a lot of things to further the gospel including sleeping on the ground, eating strange and weird stuff and a host of other exciting things. Tom has experienced mental, emotional, physical and spiritual exhaustion, food poisoning, dehydration, poisonous spider bites, witch doctors and a myriad of other things and yet he believes in missions. Why?
Tom has always had a heart of compassion for the poor and needy. He understood poverty because he grew up in it. Hunger, lack of comfort and distress are not just on foreign soil but very alive here in America. Before God ever sent Tom overseas to strange lands he practiced his humanitarian skills where God gave him the opportunity.
Local outreaches, charity events, soup kitchens, clothing drives, church bake sales and even the dreaded nursery. What was Tom trying to do through all these activities? Really all Tom wanted to do was share to gospel through tangible and meaningful ways. Tom somehow understood that when you care about someone outside of yourself and your own needs that God was pleased with this.
Comfort may have been thrown to the wind but caution was not. Everything Tom does is done through much prayer and supplication.
This section we call, "Missions" is a memorial to where God has sent Tom and where God is yet to send us. Come along and journey with us as we go to the mission field.
