Simply stated, Worship is an attitude of the heart
Worship has nothing to do with performance. Father God desires His children to come to Him with the spirit of holiness and reverence and if we are His children those ingredients are already resident within all of our hearts. The problem is getting them out. We cannot entertain God and bring gifts of our own choosing but must humbly submit to His request. We have seen way too many people with talent miss God by giving the best performance of their life and that is not what He wanted at all.
Often times gifted people can assume God gave me this gift, so this is the one I must perfect. Then I can give my best practiced polished gift back to Him and for some strange reason when He doesn't show up to receive it, we think we must not be good enough and work a little harder, unhealthily competing against ourselves. Worship is supposed to come from our heart not our feet, mouths or hands. Don't laugh but what if scripture said, A broken foot and haughty spirit I will not despise instead of A broken heart and a contrite spirt I will not despise. How useful is a skilled artist with broken ligaments, not much, but God says if our heart is broken our spirit is contrite then He will not despise this. God loves broken things, He fixes them.
When our worship is too perfect, watch out. Now we are not saying you should not practice and exercise the gift He gave you but that does not mean you have to walk around with it and carry it like some prize. If this was true then beware any tournaments with big trophies or large high polished bowling balls. Don't come to Him with all your trophies and please don't bring them to church to show off. Talent can be an enemy of God and possibly a deadly weapon which can be used against non talented people so before entering any sanctuary please check your weapons at the door. Our objective to coming to see Him is to see Him, right?
Now do you think if you were allowed to bring your talented gift into His space that somehow He will come? How does one wait on a king, I mean we do it everyday right? We go to jobs we go to school we go to day care and the doctors. We go to gas stations and grocery stores daily but still no king on the list of literal and natural everyday duties. Doing any and all things doesn't really prepare us for His visitation never mind habitation. Yet for most people even though they are ill prepared to encounter His holy presence week after week they make attempts to do just that.
Worship is an expression of the heart and cannot be polished. Worship comes in all sizes and flavors. It can come through different sounds and various techniques but it cannot be polished any more than one could polish broken glass.
It is in the simple knowledge that although outwardly we appear well and whole we are actually fading with the passage of time and yet it is the inside that shall continue to live on with Him when we are finished here on earth. It is the heart of a man that He lives in and it can only be through a heart that we will ever be able to truly worship Him.
Experience worship as it was meant to be, in His presence. He desires to habitat not visit and we are working towards that end. The relocation of our ministry and start of the home fellowship are just a precursor to something much greater He has in the works.
